Astronomy guide

Throughout history, people have used stars for navigation. We put so much emphasis on the importance of stars that the brightest clusters were given names–eventually becoming constellation. With an astronomy guide, it’s easy to become familiar with the International Astronomical Union’s 88 official constellations.

An astronomy guide will also provide information regarding:
• Lunar/solar eclipses
• Meteor showers
• Planets
• Moon cycles

Besides naming the 88 official constellations, the IAU has also changed their definition of what a planet is. During the 26th Assembly in August 2006, they opted to classify Pluto as a dwarf planet, changing the number of planets in our solar system from nine to eight. An astronomy guide would have further information regarding this historic change.
