Star astronomy

Star astronomy is actually a non profit group of astronomers–their name (STAR) is an acronym for Society for Telescopy, Astronomy and Radio. Based out of New Jersey, STAR’s mission is to spread information and interest regarding amateur astronomy-science.

Through their Web site, Star astronomy has articles pertaining to NASA findings, the age of the universe (!) and what’s up with those beautiful rings of Saturn. Plus, there is a comment board where users can discuss their own findings, observations and general inquiries.

Star astronomy is a member of the Astronomical League and International Dark Sky Association, two larger groups that promote the science of star-gazing. STAR holds meetings the first Thursday of each month, and encourages people in the New Jersey area to attend and share their own astronomical findings.
